What is QR Code?

Definition

A QR (Quick Response) code is a two-dimensional matrix barcode that encodes data in a grid of black and white squares. It can store URLs, text, contact info, Wi-Fi credentials, and more. QR codes include error correction that allows reading even when partially damaged.

Why It Matters

QR codes are used for mobile payments, event tickets, product packaging, restaurant menus, and authentication (TOTP setup). They bridge the physical-digital gap — users scan with their phone camera to access links, apps, or information instantly.
